Lemesto (Leh-mess-toh) was founded in late 2013 by designer Arielle Rassel, born of an innate desire to create beautiful things and share them with the world.
Growing up, Arielle was always making things. Painting, sculpting, making jewelry, knitting – whatever crafts she could get her hands on. Summers were spent at camp making friendship bracelets and woven lanyards by the dozen, and winters spent inside with a constantly changing flow of craft supplies. The real love of jewelry hit in sixth grade, when Arielle’s science teacher – an avid jewelry artist – taught her to bead. Aside from that initial introduction, Arielle is entirely self-taught in the art of jewelry design.
In college, at the Savannah College of Art & Design, Arielle studied fashion and interior design, and went on to pursue a career designing and producing theme parks (a job she still works by day), but her love of hand crafting never faded. Wanting a creative outlet different than worlds she helps create by day, Arielle went back to her love of jewelry. The name Lemesto comes from some of her favorite materials to work with: Leather, Metal, and Stone.
Arielle’s love of natural materials in their original state, like raw gemstones, comes from time spent with minerals and gems prevalent around her grandparents’ Tucson, AZ home. Her first supply of materials were a gift from them, from a trip they took to a local gem show. Now she goes to these same shows each year, with her grandparents, to find new inspiration and materials for her work.
Lemesto seeks to create beautiful handcrafted goods focused on natural materials. Arielle strives to create pieces that are elegant in their simplicity, yet unique enough to be significant: jewelry pieces that can be worn by day with simple jeans and a tee, or out at night with your favorite little black dress; homegoods that are eclectic but classic, bringing the beauty of nature into your home.
Many items in the shop are made to order, and Arielle loves working on custom orders as well. Get in touch to discuss how she can make something special and unique just for you.
